*VIDEO SESSIONS VIA CONFIDENTIAL PLATFORM AVAILABLE FOR ALL SERVICE TYPES
Are you open to change, but scared to take the first step? Figuring out who you are and what you value is imperative to a truly authentic existence. The most fulfilling part of my work is joining on this journey to explore various aspects of yourself; I find that humor, acceptance and direct, honest feedback are the pillars of my communication style.
While I work with a broad variety of personal issues, I specialize with identity development especially LGBTQ+ identities, young adults, and couples. I have provided both group and individual therapy for trans* and gender queer clients for the last eight years. I offer an open and affirming environment and believe this is paramount to establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship. Additionally, I specialize in disordered eating, body shame, and self-esteem struggles.
Couples come to therapy for a variety of reasons; however, I believe the common thread in all of the scenarios I see is the disruption in connection. Connection is an essential tool for human survival. When the connection with self or others is disrupted, it often leads to intense pain and discomfort. My role as a couples therapist is to first understand and explore the reason for disconnection. I then employ a variety of therapeutic techniques to enhance trust, communication, honesty, vulnerability, and receptivity.
Once these foundational pieces are established, we then rebuild through encouragement and structure so that you may once again find love and connection.
Valuing the supervision relationship, I place emphasis on providing a collaborative approach with direct feedback in a supportive nurturing environment. My approach in supervision is developmental in nature with a primary focus on third-wave behavioral models (I do weave in approaches from other theoretical models as necessary). It is important to meet each supervisee where they are at, and create the supportive framework for both personal and professional growth. I currently am a supervisor for the Professional Psychology Clinic, and previously supervised at the University of Colorado's Counseling and Psychiatric Services for both individual and group cases.
My appointment fees are as follows:
Initial Diagnostic Assessment/Intake Session 55 min. $160
Individual Therapy Session 45-50 min. $145
Extended Individual Therapy 75-80 min. $225
Initial Diagnostic Assessment/Intake Session 55 min. $175
Couples Therapy Session 45-50 min. $160
Extended Couples Therapy 75-80 min. $235
I accept cash, check, debit, HSA, FSA, and all major credit cards.
I do not accept insurance, but I am happy to provide a weekly or monthly bill which can be submitted for out-of-network reimbursement. Most plans have an out-of-network option, and I am happy to assist in exploring this option.
Reasons Why I Don’t Accept Insurance:
I must assign you a mental health diagnosis for insurance reimbursement. Sometimes these are not the most accurate reflection of what issue is present in therapy. For those whose issues are subclinical in nature, this is especially relevant as insurance may not provide coverage.
The diagnoses assigned to you stay on your permanent health record which can impact future opportunities.
I must share private health information with your insurance company compromising the confidential nature of the therapeutic relationship.
Many insurance companies allot a certain amount of sessions for outpatient therapy or per diagnosis. I must then justify ongoing treatment in order for the coverage to continue taking away from direct client care.
* I believe everyone should have equal access to mental healthcare. I have a few reduced fee slots which I base on the most current US Poverty Guidelines. Please inquire if you believe you may qualify.*
What To Expect At Your Visit
GUIDING YOU ON THE PATH OF SELF-HEALING
Whatever your needs may be, I am here to offer support. My vision when opening this practice was to serve all individuals regardless of sexuality, age, race, gender, religion, culture, or relationship style preference. It is essential to get a sense of how we will connect before you invest in therapy. I offer a FREE brief phone consultation so we can have a chance to talk before making an initial appointment. If we decide to move forward, I will direct you to complete the intake paperwork electronically through a secure client portal and we will schedule our first appointment.
Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery. Our values are what guide us in this life helping us prioritize what is important. When we move away from our most essential values, we can often feel stuck, making decisions out of fear. My goal is to help you identify your values, reflect and empathize when you move away from them, and encourage you to move towards them with genuine support. During this process, I also encourage examination of the problematic beliefs you may hold about yourself and the world around you. Through this process, you can begin to move more freely in your life, and make decisions from a place of empowerment rather than fear.
